DP-VME-5688 is a multi-node super-computing baseboard powered by Altivec vector processing unit of power PC suited for signal processing and leading edge computation. The module supports upto 4 processors or I/O modules. The processor nodes include multiple levels of cache, high speed SDRAM, boot flash and high speed external interface through 64 bit 133MHz PCI X-bus. The baseboard provides high-speed cross/fabric switch for low latency path and DMI access between processors of different nodes.
Typical I/O nodes offers high speed ADCs, DACs and LVDs based hardware interfaces.
All communication paths of similar boards are connected using eight port cross bar PCI express switch fabric connecting nodes located within and between boards.
Software on demand provides point-to-point communication links between nodes and data transfer is done through DMA. The base board supports optional Gigabit Ethernet communication or serial FPDP interfaces.
A switch fabric board can be used to link multiple baseboards with PCI-X ports. This switch board complies with VXS 46 standard and supports maximum of 4 base boards.
The board is equipped with hardware and software management, BIST, Board support packages and supports Vxworks/Tornado 2.2 from Windriver Systems and for Linux.
